Why I don’t like fireworks revisited

And so soon after I wrote that post, they let off fireworks here again.

I’m close enough to the preferred fireworks stage that I don’t really have to leave home – the taller fireworks shoot up above my neighbours’ houses, and the shorter ones provide an eerie aura to those same houses.

So an hour or two ago I stood at my open front-door, watching Colourful Things exploding in the sky, rueing all the chemicals and gases involved, and listening to the shrieking of terrified birds.
